ACCME News Release (07/01/25)
A new data report from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) provides an overview of the accredited continuing medical education/continuing education (CME/CE) system in 2024. The report highlights "a learning enterprise that is thriving, resilient, and increasingly focused on outcomes that improve patient care," ACCME noted. Strong registration revenue and advertising and exhibit income in 2024 helped to push total reported income hit to a record high, at $3.7 billion. The report also reflects the increasing educational value of enduring materials, live meetings, and regularly scheduled series. Additionally, the report shows more CME/CE activities evaluating higher-level outcomes, specifically competence (95%), performance (46%), and patient health (18%). “The 2024 data describe an enterprise that is evolving to meet the changing needs of clinicians and healthcare systems,” said Graham McMahon, MD, MMSc, President and CEO, ACCME. “Accredited continuing education continues to grow in value, impact, and trust — supporting better learning, better performance, and better care.”
