The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) was recently re-accredited with the highest level of recognition from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), accreditation with commendation. The recognition highlights AAFP's commitment to excellence . It demonstrates the organization has met the standards and core accreditation criteria, plus additional criteria such as engaging interprofessional teams, addressing population health, fostering collaboration, enhancing technical skills, supporting continuous professional development for the CME team, and demonstrating innovation and performance improvement. CME is vital for board certification and improving patient care, and AAFP's consistent commendation status since 2001 reflects its dedication to elevating educational quality and physician impact. “We really take it as a challenge to be creative and innovative in designing education to help physicians take better care of their patients,” said Elizabeth Campbell, AAFP's director of education. “And so to us, it's not an obstacle or a thing that we have to do, but it really is us intentionally choosing these commendation criteria so that we can stretch ourselves and make our education even better.”
