ACCME Newsletter (03/27/25)

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has drafted a curriculum framework to help international medical graduates (IMGs) successfully transition to practicing in the United States. The proposal includes a standardized, scalable structure to help accredited organizations develop educational programs that support IMGs adapting to the cultural, professional, and procedural expectations of U.S. medical practice. Topics include ethics, professionalism, communication and teamwork, electronic medical records, prescribing practices, and documentation. The draft curriculum was submitted to the Advisory Commission on Additional Licensing Models, co-chaired by the Federation of State Medical Boards, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, and Intealth, which oversees the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
