By: American Board of Emergency Medicine

American Board of Emergency Medicine (04/09/26)

The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) announced a new Building Resilient Inclusive Development for Growing Physician Equity Leaders (BRIDGE) program aimed at supporting early-career emergency physicians who are working to advance health equity. The initiative offers up to $6,000 to reimburse approved professional development or research activities and pairs participants with ABEM mentors while also involving them in organizational events. Eligibility is limited to physicians within 5 years of initial ABEM certification who are actively participating in continuing certification. The program is also designed to reach individuals from backgrounds such as first-generation families, financially disadvantaged or rural communities, non-traditional educational paths, or those practicing in community or single-coverage rural hospitals. Participants will be expected to share their experiences and recommendations with the ABEM Board of Directors at the end of the program.
